Each of these has definitely helped.

I wish I was more naturally structured and disciplined, so that I could just let the writing flow, but sadly I’m not. I do appreciate that these things will appear a bit basic to the more experienced out there.

Character Builder

This is very basic, but a good start to make sure that my main characters have some consistency in what they think, how they speak, what attitudes they have, and why.

Storyline Planner

I so easily get lost in the storyline, especially with multiple characters and concurrent action. A planner is a must for me and a dummy version of the sort of spreadsheet that I’ve used is attached here.

Colouring pallet

When my speed of writing can’t keep up with my speed of thinking, the output can be a bit bland. I often need to go back and ‘sex up the dossier’ a bit. This is a picture of how I’ve tried to add colour.
